About Us

Evans Property on Meador Drive is located on historically significant grounds in Tuscaloosa. In the 1950s, Paul Malone—father of Paulette Evans, owner of 530 and 540 Meador Drive—constructed two modest red homes on this site. Mr. Malone was also the founder of Malone Book Store in Tuscaloosa. For many years, generations of college students lived in these homes, helping establish the strong collegiate housing community for which Meador Drive is known today.

"For many years, generations of college students lived in these homes, helping establish the strong collegiate housing community for which Meador Drive is known today."

Following the devastating tornado of April 27, 2011, Paulette Evans and her daughter, Nikki Evans, recognized the need for safe, modern student housing in this prime location near the University of Alabama. In 2012, they collaborated to develop two student duplexes designed to offer comfortable, low-maintenance living. Each unit includes built-in storm shelters, prioritizing resident safety while supporting a balanced lifestyle focused on academics, social engagement, and personal growth.

Today, 530 and 540 Meador Drive reflect Paul Malone’s original vision—a place where college students can live, learn, and grow into responsible young adults while creating lasting memories.
